Using Twitter Hashtags to Attract Followers

Today a member of one of my LinkedIn groups alerted us to this post on Socialbrite by Kim Bale describing 40 hashtags for social good.

This post is helpful because not only does she give these invaluable #hashtags useful for promoting your do-good causes and helping to spread your message far and wide, but she also provides a great overview of what hashtags are and why you might want to give up precious Tweet space to use them.

It’s easy to figure out the popular hashtags being used already on Twitter: just go to search.Twitter.com and look for your keywords. Or, check out the Trending field on your Twitter page to see what’s hot at the moment.

If you are an advanced user, when you pick a #hashtag you further research it on an analytics website, like Trendistic, What The Hashtag or hashtags.org, to see how it trends over time.
